Remembering the Sacrifice on Good Friday
Good Friday is the day we remember the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ—His death on the cross for the forgiveness of sins. It is a solemn reminder that without the shedding of His blood, there is no redemption (Hebrews 9:22).
The blood of Jesus is not just symbolic. It carries life, healing, and spiritual authority, and it is the foundation of our salvation. On this day, we reflect on the profound significance of His sacrifice and the love that made it possible.
Salvation Through the Blood of Christ
Many seek salvation through church attendance, baptism, good deeds, or moral living. While these are good, the Bible is clear: true salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ and His shed blood.
John 3:36 says: “He that believeth on the Son, Jesus Christ, has everlasting life; but he that believeth not, the wrath of God abides on him.”
It is the blood of Jesus that:
- Cleanses us from sin
- Guarantees eternal life
- Sets the captives free
- Provides protection from spiritual attacks
Holy Communion: A Good Friday Tradition
Holy Communion is a powerful way to participate in the sacrifice of Christ. When we take communion, we symbolically receive the life-giving and cleansing power of His blood.
1 Corinthians 10:16 reminds us: “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Jesus Christ?”
Through communion, believers experience:
- Spiritual cleansing and forgiveness
- Healing for the body and soul
- Protection from the enemy
- Unity with all believers across the world
Biblical Significance of Blood
The Bible consistently emphasizes the importance of blood:
- Abel’s Sacrifice: Abel offered a lamb by faith (Hebrews 11:4).
- The Passover Lamb: In Exodus 12, the blood on the doors of Israelite homes protected them from death.
- Jesus, the Spotless Lamb: His blood cleanses sin, heals the sick, and grants spiritual freedom.
Good Friday reminds us that the blood of Jesus is the ultimate atonement. It transcends rituals, wealth, or human effort—it is the divine key to salvation.
Unity and Equality Through the Blood
The blood of Christ does more than save—it unites believers.
- Race, wealth, or status no longer separate us before God
- Denominations may differ, but the blood of Jesus brings spiritual unity
- All who accept Christ share the same redemption, protection, and spiritual inheritance
On this Good Friday, let us reflect on the equality and unity brought by His sacrifice.
How to Receive the Power of His Blood
To honor the sacrifice of Jesus today:
- Accept Him as your Savior: Salvation comes only through faith in His blood.
- Participate in Holy Communion: Reverently receive the cup in remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice.
- Live by faith in His blood: Trust in Jesus for forgiveness, healing, and protection.
A simple prayer for reflection:
Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name, I ask You to forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me by the blood of Jesus Christ. Today, I choose to serve the Lord Jesus as my Savior and Lord. Amen.
Good Friday is a solemn reminder of the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ. His blood is the source of salvation, healing, and spiritual protection. As we reflect on the cross today, let us embrace His gift with gratitude, faith, and reverence.
Let this Good Friday be a day of reflection, unity, and spiritual renewal, as we remember that nothing can wash away sin or bring eternal life except the precious blood of Jesus.
